100,355 Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide in January 2006
The total number of Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide has reached over 100,000, according to the latest figures from Wi-Fi hotspot information and services provider JiWire. Seoul has the largest number of Wi-Fi hotspots at 2,056; followed by Tokyo with 1,802 and London 1,627. The top Wi-Fi cities in the US are San Francisco with 801, New York with 643 and Chicago wth 501 hotspots. Between January 2005 and January 2006, the total numbere of hotspots worldwide jumped 87 percent to 100,355 in 115 countries, up from 53,779 in 93 countries.
