Mobistar Rolls out HSDPA Technology Throughout its 3G Network

Mobistar will be one of the first operators in the world to roll out the HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) technology throughout its 3G network. The solution makes it possible to at least triple the transmission speed of the current 3G (UMTS) and reach a maximal real speed of about 1.8 Mb/s, comparable to ADSL experience.

The Cloud Drifts Into Hotzones

European WiFi network operator The Cloud, is drifting beyond the hotspot business to large-scale wireless broadband deployments, picking up a mesh networking partner and some VC cash along the way.

Alvarion Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2005 Results

Feb. 8, 2006--Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALVR), the world's leading provider of wireless broadband solutions and specialized mobile networks, today announced financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2005.
Revenue for the fourth quarter reached $46.5 million, up 3% sequentially from $45.0 million in the third quarter of 2005. Revenue in Q4 2005 declined 17% from $55.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2004, primarily reflecting a higher revenue contribution from one large customer during the fourth quarter of 2004.
Gross margin was 45% in Q4 of 2005, consistent with Alvarion's target operating model.
