Government working with Nortel, Toshiba to test WiMAX services: CommsUpdate : TeleGeography Research

The Japanese government is working with Nortel and Toshiba to trial next generation wireless broadband services using WiMAX technology to deliver mobile high speed broadband services in the northern Tohoku region. The pilot, being conducted by the Tohoku Bureau of Telecommunications, a regional arm of Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), is part of the regulator’s 'Next Generation Broadband Strategy 2010'.
