Korean Fixed-Line Telco To Issue SIM Cards

KT, along with competing telco SK Telecom, Korea’s largest wireless carrier, plans to launch WiBro service next month. WiBro, short for “wireless broadband,” is the Korean version of the wireless Internet standard WiMAX. WiMAX promises to offer wireless Internet service at much longer distances between base stations and at potentially faster speeds than today’s widely available wireless LAN, or Wi-Fi, service.
